A cooking related fire broke out on the 6th floor at Kerwin House in Dagenham, on June 30th, at 15.20.
The sprinkler head closest to the fire activated and extinguished the fire.
The fire brigade promptly attended and worked quickly to ventilate the smoke and isolate the sprinkler system. There was some water and smoke damage to the property, but no confirmed injuries.
Our engineers attended site within a few hours of us being notified of the activation, to replace the sprinkler head and cover plate and recommission the system back to full operational use.
The fire sprinkler system was not installed by us, however we have held the contract for the servicing of the sprinkler system since February 2024, as part of our contract with BD Group, a property and facilities group, serving the communities of Barking & Dagenham.
