Quantity Surveyor

Our rapidly growing, family run company are looking to recruit an experienced Junior/ Graduate QS to be based within out busy, vibrant commercial office in Upminster. Working alongside our operations staff and with the guidance of the Senior QS, Commercial Manager and Operations Director, you will be the connection between the clients QS, finance teams and site teams and our internal teams. You will undertake site visits as required in orderto ascertain progress and inform our operational and finance teams.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and eager to learn our business. Working in close conjunction with our commercial maanger to apply for our monthly applications and maanger all our live contracts commercial aspects. The applicant will also be involved from tender stage right through to final acccount aggreement on completed contracts. 

Core Reponsibilities

  • Agreement of interim payment amounts with clients, monitoring when payments notices are due/ received/ outstanding.
  • Preparing project budgets in conjunction with the Contracts Manager and Operations Director
  • Monitoring budgets against costs and projections on a monthly basis
  • Sending subcontractor enquiries, analysing quotations, placement of orders, interim payments & agreement of subcontractor final accounts
  • Ensuring that we fulfil all our contractual obligations
  • Advising contracts managers regarding all commercial matters (variations, delays etc) and ensuring that they are identified and recorded
  • Assist contracts managers in the preparation of contractual notices
  • Site visits are essential to monitor for possible variations and similar matters and ensure that site records are produced.
  • Maintain good relationships with clients, consultants and colleagues.  

Person Specification

  • Work experience within a surveying or construction management role 
  • Understanding of the JCT Standard Forms of Contract or similar
  • Quantity surveying degree or professional qualifications
  • Excellent IT skills (particularly Microsoft Excel)
  • Experience of producing and monitoring project budgets
  • Experience of producing and monitoring when payments are due/received/outstanding
  • CSCS Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence
